With only a few days remaining until the inaugural Oracle Pro Series event of 2020 in Ann Arbor, University of Michigan Varsity Men’s Tennis teammates Andrew Fenty and Ondrej Styler will headline the field after receiving wild cards into the tournament’s main draw. The duo of Wolverines will have home-court advantage when the action gets underway at the Varsity Tennis Center on January 6-12 and look to upset a loaded field of up-and-coming American and international talent.
Fenty, the son of former Washington DC Mayor Adrian Fenty, is a sophomore for the Wolverines who is coming off an incredible freshman season that earned him First-Team All-Big Ten honors. Recording an overall singles record of 27-7 including 20-3 in dual match play, Fenty was named both ITA Freshman of the Year as well as Big Ten Freshman of the Year. In his most impressive performance of the season, Fenty downed the country’s No. 1 singles player, Ohio State’s JJ Wolf, in straight sets to hand him his first loss of the year.
Styler is a freshman looking to assert himself on the collegiate stage, who will have the opportunity to make a statement in Ann Arbor with a notable performance at the Oracle Pro Series. In his standout junior career, Styler was ranked as high as #13 in the ITF world rankings as well as winning the Junior French Open in doubles and reaching the finals of Junior Wimbledon.
Other players of note in Ann Arbor include former Wolverine Evan King, former ATP Tour top-25 ranked Thomaz Bellucci, former Junior French Open Champion Bjorn Fratangelo and 2019 USTA 18 and Under National Champion Zachary Svajda.
As with all Oracle Pro Series events, admission is free for fans all week long. You can find information about daily schedule, parking, and more here.
