Arantxa Rus is into the final of the Oracle Pro Series – Orlando, dropping just one set en route. The World No.99 is no stranger to the big stage, causing one of the biggest upsets in Grand Slam history at Roland Garros in 2011. There, she defeated World No.2 Kim Clijsters after being down 3-6, 2-5 and facing two match points. She will look to add to her collection of 23 ITF titles, eight of which have come this year, when she takes the court at the USTA National Campus on Sunday.

What is your most memorable win?
French Open against Kim Clijsters in 2011. It was a big win and I will always remember it. It was the first time I played on Court Philippe Chatrier, she was the No.2 seed, and it was a match I will never forget.

What is your next goal in tennis?
At the beginning of the year, it was to come back into the top 100, and I did that. So now, I want to get higher than my previous best ranking of 61.

Who has been the toughest opponent you’ve faced?
I don’t have just one opponent that is the toughest. There are a lot of good players, so I can’t choose just one.

What is a memorable match you’ve watched live or on TV?
I love to watch both men’s and women’s tennis and would go to the Grand Slams when I was younger. I love to watch Nadal, because we are both lefties and I can learn a lot from him.

What are 3 things you always have in your tennis bag?
Arm tube to warm up with, a towel and some food – just in case I get hungry.

Who has been the most influential person on your tennis life?
My coach – I’ve had a couple difficult years, my ranking really dropped. He kept believing in me when I played bad, so he’s why I’m here now.

What is your favorite shot to hit in tennis?
Inside-out forehand.

Where has been the most interesting or exciting place you’ve traveled?
As a tennis player, you get to go around the world, but I always love the trip to Australia. The people are relaxed and there’s really nice weather.

What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Chocolate.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
It’s really simple but helps me out a lot – to try and stay positive.

What is a weird superstition that you have?
I have routines before a match, but I don’t necessarily have superstitions. Although, I do like to eat at the same restaurant during tournaments.
